Sharing is caring!

This smooth decadent chocolate hazelnut spread taste better than the store brand kind and is much healthier for you. Using only three ingredients and 10 minutes you can indulge in this gluten free, vegan, oil free and naturally sweetened spread. Prefect for baking, topping for pancakes and waffles or simply eating it with a spoon straight out the jar!

Who doesn’t love Nutella… not many people I assume. The store-bought kind is packed full of sugar and oil with little actual chocolate or hazelnuts. It also isn’t dairy free which is the main reason I haven’t eaten it in over a 1 year and a half.

Don’t worry though I have been making up for it since making my own version. I love recreating old favourites, which has pretty much become a must these days. There is free from chocolate spreads on the market but one they are usually twice the price and still contain more sugar and oil than I would like.

The great thing about making your own versions is you can customise them to your own taste. With this Nutella I used 85% dark chocolate and raw cacao powder to give this a darker chocolate flavour than the original. I also roasted the hazelnuts first to give this Nutella a richer more intense hazelnut flavour. You can use raw nuts instead if you prefer.

The last ingredient I used was fruit syrup from the sweet freedom brand. If you have read any of my other recipe post then and sure you would have heard me talk about this brand before it’s my go to for a natural liquid sweetener. This is optional but I find it helps pull all the flavours together and gives a nice hint of sweetness. Adding any liquid sweetener to your Nutella will make it thicker and not as running as the store-bought kind. You can still spread it with any problems, it just won’t drizzle.

Want a raw Nutella spread no problem simply use a raw bar of chocolate, raw coconut sugar instead of the fruit syrup and don’t roast the hazelnuts. I already used raw cocoa powder in this recipe so no need to substitute it.

No matter if you make this raw or not am sure you will love it as much as i do. Serious self control is needed though once you make this. Am not kidding if i hadn’t had to shoot pictures of this Nutella then am pretty sure i would of just ate it straight out the blender!

Check out my chocolate hazelnut granola clusters recipe here for a great way to use this Nutella. This is actually why i made this batch. When writing up that blog post i figured i couldn’t not give you the recipe to make your own Nutella.
